The stone.

Natural marble, granite, travertine and limestone, plus porcelain and sintered slabs. Each family with its finishes, typical uses and where it comes from.

Carrara, Italy

White marble

Polished · honed

Carrara, Calacatta and Statuario: the white marbles that define the category. Carrara is soft grey on white; Calacatta carries bolder grey and gold veining; Statuario sits between, bright white with dramatic grey veins.

Marble is a calcite stone: beautiful, but sensitive to acids. Honed finishes hide etching better than polished in kitchens.

Varieties
Carrara, Calacatta, Statuario and other white marbles
Finishes
Polished, honed, leathered
Uses
Benchtops, islands, vanities, wall cladding, feature floors
Care
Seal on installation; wipe acids promptly
Worldwide

Exotic & dark marble

Polished · leathered

Greens, blacks, reds and blues: limited-run marbles from smaller quarries, chosen slab by slab. These are the stones that rarely reach local yards, and the ones where book-matching makes the biggest statement.

Varieties
Green, black and coloured marbles, sourced to the project
Finishes
Polished, leathered, honed
Uses
Feature walls, islands, bars, reception desks
Note
Availability changes block to block; hold slabs early
Estremoz & Iberia

Warm marble & limestone

Honed · polished

Crema Marfil and the warm marbles of the Iberian Peninsula, alongside limestones: quieter stones with fine veining and soft colour, suited to large floors and whole rooms.

Varieties
Crema Marfil, Estremoz marbles, limestones
Finishes
Honed, polished, brushed
Uses
Floors, bathrooms, stair treads, cladding
Rajasthan & Brazil

Granite

Flamed · leathered · polished

Absolute black, multicolour and river-washed granites. Granite is hard and dense, so it handles kitchens, heavy traffic and the outdoors where marble would struggle.

Varieties
Absolute black, multicolour, river-washed
Finishes
Polished, leathered, honed, flamed
Uses
Kitchens, exterior paving, steps, commercial floors
Mediterranean

Travertine

Honed · tumbled · filled

A banded limestone with natural voids. Filled and honed for smooth interior floors; left open or tumbled for pool surrounds, paving and steps.

Finishes
Filled & honed, unfilled, tumbled
Uses
Indoor and outdoor paving, steps, architectural features
In place of engineered stone

Porcelain & sintered slabs

Matte · polished

Large-format porcelain and sintered stone slabs are pressed and fired at high temperature without the resin binders of engineered stone. They are dense, low-porosity and stain-resistant, and come in marble, stone and concrete looks as well as solid colours.

Engineered stone has been banned in Australia since 1 July 2024. Porcelain and sintered slabs fill the same role for benchtops, splashbacks and cladding.

Body
Porcelain or sintered stone, low porosity
Finishes
Matte, polished, textured
Uses
Kitchens, bathrooms, commercial kitchens, high-traffic surfaces, cladding

Four finishes.

The same slab reads differently with each surface. Finish also changes how it wears and how slip-resistant it is.

Polished

Mirror sheen, deepest colour. Best for walls and vanities.

Honed

Smooth and matte. Hides etching and suits floors and kitchens.

Leathered

Brushed to a soft texture you can feel, with a low sheen.

Flamed

Heat-textured granite with high grip, for outdoors and steps.

Edge profiles.

Cut to size and profiled before delivery. These are the common ones; others are available on request.

Pencil roundA small radius on both corners.
BevelA crisp angled chamfer.
Full bullnoseFully rounded front edge.
OgeeA traditional S-curve.
Mitred apronA mitred drop edge that makes a slab look thicker.
